Fake currency notes, smuggled from Pakistan, seized

Amritsar: The special operation cell of Punjab Police seized fake Indian currency notes with a face value of 4.5 lakh after interrogating an accused arrested for his involvement in a trans-border racket.

Sukhjit Singh, who was nabbed with fake notes in the denomination of 1,000, was interrogated for further details about the racket, AIG (Special Operation Cell)Maninder Singh said.

Investigations led to the recovery of the consignment which was recently smuggled from Pakistan in connivance with a notorious fake currency smuggler lodged in Amritsar jail.
