Best Things To Do On A Date

In the old days, a date always had a set pattern: Take a girl out to dinner, maybe a movie, some dessert and that was it.
But in a time where there is so much entertainment out there, being creative on a date will help make things more exciting for both the people involved.

It should start with a creative way to ask someone out. Using new age methods like writing on the sky, an e-card, a personalized bouquet, a radio jingle really helps to start off on a good note. Dates should after all be exciting and memorable…who knows, if it catapults into a marriage then you would want to remember the date with a good big smile…wouldn’t you?

Once you know that you are going on a date, then think about what you are going to do on a date…will you be the mundane kind of person who just goes for a dinner outing and ends the date? You shouldn’t be, therefore, some ideas below could add to your imagination and help you come up with a bigger, better list of what to do on a date!
Play a game

If it’s the first date or one of the first few dates, its always important to get to know the person you are with. Therefore, playing games like 20 questions or truth or dare can really help you to understand the nature of the person you are with and it can be a fun way of spending the time too!
Plan a different kind of outing
If not a dinner, think of what else you can do. List out your interests and if you can, your partner’s too. Then think of other things you can do, like maybe going bowling, or for a basketball game (considering you both like basketball)… A date doesn’t have to be about the movies and dinners all the time.

Plan a theme outing

Have a theme outing instead of the usual. Ask your date to dress up in a costume, and plan a place wherein you could decorate it as per the costume / theme. It’s also great to pick famous movie themes. Like a star wars date.
Play a sport

If you are going on a date with someone from your sports club or gym, you could explore the idea of making a game of tennis a date! That is of course if you think your partner could be open to it! Or play a sport and then go on the real date – which is a meal outing! This will help you two to get to know each other more.
Play indoor games / board games

Indoor games and board games can be fun during a date. Open up a game of scrabble or monopoly and start off after you are done eating. It help you both to warm up to each other easily too and it will invite some really funny moments too to think about later.
Go for a stroll

After your date, you don’t necessarily have to drop your partner off, you can try and spend more time together by going for a stroll. Try to go on a quiet, peaceful route that allows you to talk and hold hands without traffic and passers-by getting in the way.
Play some music for her

During the date, you could explore the possibility of inviting her over and then playing some music for her, if you are already well versed with music and using a musical equipment of some kind.

Dance away to glory, indoors

Get back home and play some loud music where both of you can just go crazy dancing. It will allow you to ease off some of the tension and stress that comes with a date and bond better with the person.
Teach each other something

You can even turn your date into a learning center of sorts! If your partner has a skill you’d love to learn and vice-versa, use the date to trade skills. You can teach the other to play the guitar, to write love poems, to do origami – anything! It will turn out to be so much fun too!
Have a “Let’s share our secrets” session

If you are going on your 5th or 6th date then you could think of having a session wherein both of you share each other’s secrets. It could be embarrassing but its all in good banter so it will turn into quite a memorable episode in your love story.
Read out your favorite books

If you like books and have a favorite one, use the date to read out your favorite parts of the story to your partner, but, plan it or enact it in such a way so as not to bore the living daylights out of your partner! Maybe avoid it completely if your partner doesn’t like books at all!

Cook another native’s cuisine, together

Plan an indoor date and cook another nation’s cuisine together, get some help on recipes and ingredients needed from the Internet. Just pick a country randomly from the world map and voila! It will turn out to be truly fun and exciting for sure but who knows you may end up hungry at the end of it so order in if needed…
Watch a movie in another language

Watch a movie in another language that neither of you understand (with the sub titles turned off) and guess what the story is about and what the dialogues between the characters are. It’s going to be pretty memorable and funny and maybe after you are done watching and guessing the dialogues, you could actually watch the real thing with the sub titles on and laugh out loud at your version!
Do something special

A date is about doing something special anyway, but what you can do instead is plan something even more special, if you know the person you are going on a date with well enough then plan a gift / outing that will mean a lot to them. For instance, if there was a particular place in town that meant a lot to them because of a warm childhood memory then surprise them by taking them there for a special tour / outing. It will sure mean a lot to them and you will end up happy, knowing you did something truly warm and special for someone else.
