10 Tips For Extending The Battery Life Of Your Cell Phone

No one enjoys having a cell phone fo dead. We all use our cell phones daily for lots of reasons. From checking our emails, to using Yahoo Messenger, and to making phone calls or texting, cell phones have become an essential part of our lives. Having a battery that goes dead unexpectedly, or simply will not stay charged, is frustrating. It can mean missed calls at the same time. The following are ten tips to help you extend the battery life of your cell phone.
  1. Turn Off Excessive Sounds. Most cell phones come with sound features. That doesn’t mean, we need all of them. Having too many of those sounds features turned on can add to the drain on your cell phone’s battery. Turning off the ones you don’t use, can help extend your battery life.
  2. Ringer And Vibration Settings. Do you really need both working on your cell phone?  It might be necessary when you are at a concert, but otherwise maybe having only one working is enough.
  3. Display Screen Brightness. The screen display brightness is perhaps the major user of energy on your phone. You can adjust the brightness to about 50 per cent of the current light. Once your eyes adjust to the difference, you’ll find it easy to keep it at that level.
  4. Turning Off Blue Tooth. When you’re not using the blue tooth feature, you should turn it off in your phone settings. It will still look for a blue tooth device when you need it to.
  5. Exiting Unused Applications. Keeping applications open, which you are not currently using on your cell phone, will make a demand on your battery. Closing them when you are finished using them will add to your battery’s longevity.
  6. Don’t Abuse The Fun Features. Listening to music and playing games with your cell phone can be entertaining, but they do take energy. Limit your use of these features when you know that you need to conserve your battery.
  7. Keep it cool. When you put your phone on the charger for several hours, such as overnight, turn your phone off. Leaving it connected when the battery is full will not cause damage to the battery, but the heat from having it plugged in and turned on can. Leaving your cell phone in a hot car or laying out in direct sun, can potentially damage your battery as well.
  8. Cell Back Lighting. Change the backlighting feature from 15-30 seconds and down to only 3 to 5 seconds. This is another energy drain that does add up over the day.
  9. Don’t Let Your Battery Completely Drain Too Often. Letting your phone completely run down on a frequent basis can lead to possible battery damage. It is better to charge it when needed and check the battery symbol on your cell for how much it is charged. Occasionally letting it drain down, once every few months, can be beneficial, as this can reset the battery meter, so that it reads your battery level more accurately.
  10. Turn Off The Phone. There are times when you simple don’t need your phone. Get in the habit of turning it off when you know you don’t need it for any reason. That is the biggest way to saving the battery from wearing out and risking it being completely drained.
There are many habits we develop with the use of our cell phones that affect the battery usage.  The easiest solution is to begin changing those habits, so that our batteries last longer.
