MORE than 500 Syrians fled to Lebanon yesterday as the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad’s regime entered its eighth week.
Gunfire was heard in the western town of Talkalakh, a day after security forces killed at least six people at protest rallies.
More than 5,000 Syrians have left the country as the violence has escalated, and human rights groups estimate that 775 people have been killed since protests started in mid-March.
