Musharraf, Bush deal allowed US operation against Osama in Pakistan: Report

================================================London: An explosive report in the leading British daily The Guardian may have the answers to the questions that are raging across Pakistan on how the United States managed to carry out a raid to kill Osama Bin Laden in the garrison town of Abbottabad, so close to the country's military academy.
The report speaks of a secret deal struck between General Pervez Musharraf and then President George W Bush nearly 10 years ago - right after bin Laden escaped the American forces in the mountains of Tora Bora.
The deal reportedly permitted a US operation against Osama on Pakistani soil, just like the one carried out last week in Abbottabad that killed the al-Qaeda leader.
A key part of that deal was that Pakistan would raise an alarm and put up vociferous protest drama right after the operation, reports the The Guardian.
Also, a US diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks claims that in August 2008, Yousuf Gilani reportedly told a US official that "he doesn't really care if the US carries out an operation in Pakistan. They will protest in Parliament and then ignore it.
