Pimped by Pakistan

Bin laden is (presumably) dead, even though his body will never be seen again and he was not DNA tested in the usual fashion. Regardless, let’s assume he’s history and move on, more or less.
The State Department is seeking $3 billion in foreign assistance to Islamabad in its fiscal 2012 budget request, a large portion of it is part of a $7.5 billion, multi-year economic development package. Why? This country seemingly just duped the United States by insisting it had NO IDEA that Bin Laden was living less than half a mile from one of their major military training sites on a compound that was essentially sealed off from the general population. Didn’t that raise the slightest hint of concern or suspicion about what might be going on behind those walls?
It’s time to stop, immediately, ALL foreign aid to Pakistan until the government initiates a viable form of oversight and constant monitoring of the funds. Otherwise, put that $$ back into U.S. investments in infrastructure and assisting those in need who live here, and we don’t need to look any farther than the disaster areas of the South.
It really is time for us to take care of our own.
