Here comes Dr Preity Zinta

Actor Preity Zinta has joined the league of Bollywood actors to be bestowed with an honorary doctorate.

The University of East London (UEL) has bestowed her with an honorary doctorate of the Arts for her contribution to cinema and humanitarian work at a special ceremony on Friday.

The pretty actor, who has till date acted in over 30 films in Bollywood as well as in Telugu, Punjabi and English language films, when asked on how she feels on receiving this title said that it is indeed a humbling experience.

“I am extremely humbled and excited at the nomination as it really makes me feel that my work has been worthy.I may not have managed to become a doctor in my younger years but that dream is now being fulfilled.”

The vice-chancellor of the University, professor Patrick McGhee said: “I am delighted that we are able to honour Preity Zinta. We noticed her involvement in the Delhi blood donor camps and her tireless work in, and the promotion of, raising awareness of the challenges over Aids, human trafficking and the plight of street children. In additionto all this, her involvement as ambassador for the Godfrey Phillips Bravery Awards and the Loomba Trust proves that she is not afraid to stand up for justice and those in need. We have also noted her writing over the past 10 years on important topics for the BBC.”

Preity was always actively involved in social causes. The actor had recently adopted 34 orphan girls from Rishikesh. Preity is still taking care of all the girls’ needs including education, food and clothing.
