| | An Afghan man aged 28 and a woman aged 23 were stoned to death by the Taliban for allegedly having a love affair in northern Afghanistan.
The couple had their hands bound behind their backs and were forced to stand in an empty field as their sentence was carried out. Under Islamic Sharia law, extra-marital affairs carry a sentence of stoning unto death.
“The couple confessed they had eloped together and based on their confession they were stoned to death,” a local Taliban Commander said.
