LONDON: Former British prime minister Baroness Margaret Thatcher has emerged as the most influential woman and role model in the world, edging out Michelle Obama and Mother Teresa in a survey.
Twenty years after losing power, 85-year-old Baroness Thatcher picked up almost a third of the votes in a survey to find the most influential woman in the world.
She garnered 32% of votes as against her nearest challenger Florence Nightingale (26%) in the survey conducted by YouGov and AOL UK. Supermodel Kate Moss came bottom of the poll with only 1% of the votes in the survey of more than 2,000 people. Anne Frank came in eighth and Michelle Obama at six, while feminist writer Germaine Greer came in at the eleventh spot.
But even though Thatcher was at the top, only 2% wanted to swap lives with her. When asked who they would most like to be, 26% of women chose Harry Potter author JK Rowling.
