KANPUR: Six members of a family, including two minors, were charred to death and three suffered burn injuries when a LPG cylinder caught fire in a house Kanpur's Nazirabad on Sunday.
Ramshabad Sharma, a carpenter, had gone to the hospital when the incident occurred in his house. He lived with his wife, three children and two grandsons in a rented one-room thatched structure, owned by Kailash Sharma.
Ramshabad's wife Shakuntala (50), daughters Sunita (28) and Soni (20), son Santosh (22), grandchildren Golu (10) and Deepu (5) died in the fire. Among the injured are Sunil, Golu and Suman who were rushed to a hospital. They are said to be out of danger.
According to Nazirabad CO Niharika Sharma, Ram Shabd Sharma's elder daughter Sunita tried to light the LPG gas stove. There was a leakage in the cylinder and it caught fire.
