The CBI court of Ghaziabad on Tuesday announced four years jail term to former Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Neera Yadav and owner of Flex Industry Ashok Chaturvedi in Noida land scam. Neera Yadav was immediately taken into custody and sent to jail. Announcing the judgement the court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on Neera Yadav and Chaturvedi. The court found large-scale irregularities in land allotment in Noida.
The CBI court has found both guilty of them in allotment of land in Noida when Neera Yadav was chief executive officer in 1992-94. The CBI, which probed into the matter, chargesheeted her in 2002 and since then the case was pending in the court.

Neera Yadav had become chief secretary during Mulayam Singh Yadav regime. However she was later removed from the post. She had taken voluntary retirement after Mayawati came to power in 2007. Neera Yadav was politically well connected. Her husband, a retired police officer, Mahendra Singh, was a minister in BJP government. Later he joined Samajawadi Party. In 2009, he again joined the BJP.
