POLICE in Montreal have found 6.3 tonnes (7 tons) of hashish wrapped in laptop-sized bricks in an abandoned container, CBC news network said late today.
"It's a big one," a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) spokesman told the network about the drug haul, which one reporter estimated would be enough to intoxicate everybody in Canada.
Police were alerted to the stash of cannabis resin by an anonymous caller at the weekend, CBC said.
The haul's estimated value was not given, but the RCMP in 2007 said the street price of hashish was about $CAD10 per gram, or $CAD70 million ($72.82 million) for the entire stash.
