Washington, Sep 2O (PTI) US President Barack Obama today said a nuclear weapon in the possession of Iran would be a real problem, but insisted his administration was still open to a diplomatic solution to the issue.

"Iran having a nuclear weapon would be a real problem," Obama said at a live town hall meeting on jobs and economy organised by the CNBC.

He said the US had initiated and the UNSC approved the toughest sanctions ever against Iran and asserted that they were having an effect.

"We continue to be open to diplomatic solutions to resolve this," Obama said.

"We don''t think that a war between Israel and Iran or military options would be the ideal way to solve this problem, but we are keeping all our options on the table," he said in response to a question.
