NATO says a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan has killed nine coalition service members.

The crash Tuesday injured four other people, including two coalition service members, an Afghan soldier and a U.S. civilian.

NATO said there were no reports of enemy fire in the area, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

On Monday, NATO says Afghan and coalition forces captured a Taliban commander and killed two Taliban insurgents after raiding a compound in the northern Baghlan province.

NATO said in a statement Tuesday the captured commander was linked to several attacks during Saturday's elections in Afghanistan.

One of the insurgents killed at the compound in the village of Hemmat Khel was identified as Mullah Mahmoob Elahi.

NATO described him as a senior Taliban leader who met regularly with Taliban leaders in Pakistan
