Gaza: Israel Permits Car Imports

For the first time in more than three years, Israel on Monday allowed cars to be imported into Gaza. About 20 cars, most of them recent secondhand models, were driven from the border by Palestiniandrivers to where local car dealers and Hamas Transportation Ministry officials waited. Car imports are now expected to occur regularly as part of the recently eased Israeli restrictions on Gaza. Spare parts and engine oil are also being allowed in.
