Two rape woman as husband watches TV

The police on Sunday arrested two persons for allegedly raping a 20-year-old housewife. The incident took place around 12.30am on Saturday, while the victim’s husband was at home. The duo has been identified as Prashant Kanekar, 22, and Amit Sansare, 32, both residents of Khar Danda. According to the police, the victim knew both the suspects, who are employed with a private firm.

The victim and her husband, who works as a housekeeper in a private company in Bandra, live in a ground-plus-one structure. The kitchen is located on the ground floor while the couple’s bedroom is on the first floor, the police said.

In her statement to the police, the victim said her husband was watching television upstairs and she was washing the utensils in the kitchen when the duo barged into her home and locked the door from inside. Before she could scream for help, they gagged her with a handkerchief, tied her hands and raped her.

However, the victim’s husband heard a commotion and came downstairs to check on his wife. By then the duo had fled from the scene, the police said.

The couple approached the Khar police and registered a complaint. The victim has been admitted to Bhabha Hospital for treatment. “The duo has been booked for rape. We are waiting for the medical reports,” said inspector Sanjay Kale, Khar police station.
