=========================================================== TEHRAN, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Iranian lawmakers strongly condemned the fresh U.S. sanctions on eight senior Iranian officials and vowed to retaliate, the semi-official Fars news agency reported Sunday. The U.S.'s move to put sanctions on Iranian officials is "to maintain the psychological war against Iran", Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said in a statement on Sunday. The commission urged the Iranian government to retaliate to preserve the dignity of the Islamic Republic, according to Fars. On Wednesday, the United States imposed unilateral sanctions against eight senior Iranian officials, whom were accused of violating human rights. The Iranian officials are not allowed to travel to the United States and their assets in the U.S. are frozen. "Such actions are a clear indication that they are pursuing the policy of meddling in Iran's internal affairs," Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, was quoted by the local satellite Press TV as saying. Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani also said Sunday that " the U.S. administration's recent move in freezing assets of some Iranian officials and refusing to issue visa for them is so meaningless that it is turned into a childish behavior in the international scene," the semi-official ISNA news agency reported. ---Editor: yan (xinhuanet.com) |
