Ivory Coast's incumbent president, Laurent Gbagbo, has been detained. 

A Gbagbo adviser in France, Toussaint Alain, told VOA  that French special forces detained Mr. Gbagbo at his Abidjan residence Monday.

The French news agency quotes France's ambassador to Ivory Coast as also saying Mr.  Gbagbo was arrested.

A column of French armored vehicles had been seen advancing on the Gbagbo residence Monday.

Mr. Gbagbo refused to give up power after his rival Alassane Ouattara was named the winner of last year's presidential election.

'He is refusing to admit defeat after losing last November's presidential election to rival Ouattara.' - c'mon, what kind of impartial reporting is this? The election was overturned by the constitutional court.
