Earth is full of unique and exciting places, some of them are discovered and used by humans to rest and spend vacations there, and some of them are waiting to be yet discovered.
We are about to present you a list of five location which we believe that they could be the most amazing places on Earth, however, you will understand that it is too difficult to make such list because there are plenty places which should be on the list. Even if we would have a time to make a top 50 list we would have to omit some places because even such list is still to small to gather all exciting places on Earth.
4. The Great Dune of Pyla is amazing part of nature which can be found in France, near Bordeaux. It is interesting phenomena which looks like someone took a piece of some African desert and brought it in the middle of Europe. This is Europe’s largest sand dune and it covers the surface of 1,5 square kilometers. It reaches the height of 100 meters and it is one of the favorite places for tourists who do not miss the chance to make awesome photos here.
3. Rotorua is a city located in New Zealand, and it is best known by its geysers and pretty interesting boiling mud pools which can be found near the city. It is known that geothermal activity is causing release of sulphur gases into atmosphere which smell something like a rotten egg, and if you are intending to visit the city of Rotorua be prepared to bear this smell because there is a pretty much of geothermal activity there.
2. If you come by near the town of Darvaza in Turkmenistan, you shouldn’t miss the chance to visit this amazing piece of nature which is known as The Door to Hell. This place is litteraly burning for last 35 years. The story which lays behind it is pretty interesting. About 40 years ago geologists have uncovered an underground cavern which have collapsed and took down the drilling equipment. Geologists discovered that there is a plenty of poisonous gas in there and they decided to ignite it hoping that it will burn in a few days. Well, they have miscalculated something, 40 years have passed and the gas is still burning and it looks like it will burn forever there.
1. Socotra, even its name sounds alien-like and somehow weird. It is a small group of islands located in Indian Ocean. The largest island of this archipelago is also called Socotra. This group of islands is pretty isolated, the nearest piece of soil is more than 240 kilometers away, and this helped that some species of plants and animals become endemic for this place.
You will find that this place is often described as alien-like and one of the most unusual places on the Earth and, indeed, there are some plants which grow there, as well as the shape of the soil, which will give you a feel that you have been teleported to some planet similar to those which were often visited by Star Trek heroes. Some of plants which grow here cannot be found in any other place on the Earth. The most famous plant which is growing in Socotra is so-called Dragon’s Blood Tree, it looks like a huge umbrella, and its shape definitely is not common for the environment which most of us used to know.
