ISLAMABAD, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- At least 12 people were killed in target killing that took place Tuesday evening in Pakistan's largest industrial city of Karachi, reported local media.
According to the reports, the killings took place at a scrap yard in the city when ten to 15 unknown gunmen opened fire indiscriminately on the people at the market.
The gunmen have escaped after firing. Police and rangers quickly cordoned off the area following the attack. The injured people have been shifted to hospitals. Hospital sources said that many injured were in critical condition.
The latest target killing has brought the death toll in the past three days in the city to a total of 67.
Despite the government strong intervention in the political violence that broke out a few days before in the city, there is no sign that the security situation there will stabilize soon.--Editor: yan (xinhua)
