11 Taliban killed in Pak clashes
Operations in the volatile tribal belt in northwest Pakistan



Security forces claimed to have killed at least 11 Taliban fighters during operations in the volatile tribal belt in northwest Pakistan , security officials said.

 A soldier was killed when militants attacked a security forces in Tada village in Orakzai Agency, which has witnessed an upsurge in violence since last week.The clashes in the Orakzai Agency, where an operation is in progress since March 24 this year, came following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a security forces’ convoy, which left six soldiers dead, including a senior officer.

Six Taliban fighters were killed in a retaliatory action by the troops.Five more militants were killed and six injured when security forces shelled Taliban positions in Kareer area of Mohmand tribal region.
A woman was killed when an artillery shell hit a house in Koband area of Mohmand Agency.

In the restive Swat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, security forces foiled an attempt by the Taliban to destroy a government school in Koza Bandai area.The school building sustained some damage.

Soon after the incident, security forces launched a search operation in Imamdheri and Koza Bandai, two former hubs of the local Taliban
On October 24 , 2010 five Taliban militants were killed Sunday in clashes with security forces in the restive Swat valley in northwest Pakistan, officials said.

A gun battle erupted at Khareri in Matta sub-division when security forces conducted a raid after receiving information that rebels were present in the area. (Samay live)
