Probe ordered into strip-search incident

An inquiry was ordered on Saturday into the incident where a girl student, appearing in the class X exams of Uttar Pradesh Board, was allegedly strip-searched by invigilators at a college here suspecting that she was carrying chits for copying. The probe was ordered by the District Inspector of Schools Ravinder Singh who termed it as a serious matter.

The inquiry will be conducted by additional education officer in DISO office and the report sent to the Uttar Pradesh Education Department for initiating action against the guilty, Singh said.

Meanwhile, local councillor Durgesh Sharma, who staged a protest against the incident, told PTI that the matter was being reported to the National Commission for Women and National Human Rights Commission demanding action against the invigilator who subjected the girl to such an insult.

However, the matter stands resolved between the girl's family and the administration of Rukmani Modi Mahila Inter College in Modinagar with its Principal Kamlesh Gaud extending an apology.
