Karachi violence toll rises to 16

KARACHI: At least nine persons were killed in the latest wave of violence in the metropolis over the last 12 hours, bringing the overall death toll of firing incidents since Thursday morning to 16.

Wali Khan Babar, a reporter of private news channel, was also among the victims. He was shot dead in Liaquatabad on Thursday evening.

In Qasba Colony, unidentified assailants opened fire at a bus, killing Farazud Din, Rashid and Javed and injuring five others including Muhammed Ali, Muhammed Ishaq, a girl, 7, Noor Muhammed and Jahangir.

An unidentified youth was killed and four others injured after being attacked by gunmen near Kati Pahari.

Three people were shot and killed in Qasba Colony, Aligarh and Faqir Colony.

The spell of firing is on the go intermittently, triggering panic in the locality.

Imad, a 25-year youth, was gunned down in Liaquatabad.

In another incident, 55-year old bank manager, Anwar Raza suffered bullet injuries in Moosa Lane in the limits of Baghdadi Police Station. He was rushed to hospital, but he could not survive.

At least three, including a woman, were killed in firing incidents in New Karachi area of Madina colony. SAMAA
