The Selfless Scott Neeson
by ryanrob, Scotland here and now.
Edinburgh born Scott Neeson had it all, as president of 20th Century Fox International he was one of the most powerful men in Hollywood. He counted stars such as Tom Cruise and Harrison Ford as close personal friends, had a mansion in the hills, a 36ft yacht and a $1.5 billion budget overseeing blockbusters like Titanic, X-Men, Braveheart, Star Wars and hundreds of other movies.

So why would this self-made multi millionaire movie mogul give up this "American Dream" lifestyle, resign from his position, sell his home, cars and boat and move to a garbage dump in Cambodia???
Well it was during a vacation in Asia, he found himself in Phnom Penh when a local told him of the thousands of children in the city who lived off picking plastic and metal out of the hazardous waste on the garbage dumps. Shocked by the desperation and courage of the children and their families, Scott was certain he had found his calling in life.
He is now a resident in Phnom Penh and is the proud founder of the Cambodian Childrens Fund (CCF) where he has set up a much needed medical facility, a school where the kids are taught English, Khmer and maths, a daycare program for babies who were left to roam the garbage dump while the parents worked and has recently started the first ever clean drinking water distribution station.

Scott said "It really was a calling, something I felt I could do, something I was good at. Really, it's about what you want your life to be about. That was the most important part for me."
Now for my rant. Scott has been doing his great work for seven years now, yet this is the first time I've heard of his story and I'm guessing it's the first for you too. People like this are in too short a supply so when they do come along shouldn't we be doing everything we can to assist and help publicize their cause?
I know I know there are more worthy headlines out there like what type of animal Lady Gaga is wearing today or WOW David Beckham has a new hair style...stop the press.
What an amazing and selfless human being, I only wish there were more like you.
