Guwahati-Delhi Rajdhani express hits 3-wheeler, 9 killed

Katihar, Bihar:  Nine people have reportedly been killed in Katihar in Bihar, after a 3-wheeler was hit by the Guwahati-Delhi Rajdhani express on Saturday.

The train running at a speed between 90 and 100 kmph hit the autorickshaw as the auto driver tried to cross the tracks at Khaira under Dandakhora police station, Divisional Commercial Manager, North Frontier Railway (Katihar), A K Sinha said.
   
Bodies of the victims, all passengers of the autorickshaw, lay scattered on both sides of the tracks as the train went ahead and stopped only at Katihar railway station, he said.
   
The NF Railway authorities and civil authorities have ordered an inquiry into the incident

The Railways have announced a compensation of two lakh rupees to the next of kin of the deceased.

Railway Minister announces Rs. 2 lakh as ex-gratia to kin of train-auto accident victim in Bihar

The Raiways Minister, Mamata Banerjee, on Saturday announced an ex-gratia payment of rupees 2 lakh to the next of the kin of the deceased as a special case in which a three-wheeler was hit by 2435 Guwahati -New Delhi Rajdhani Express train at an unmanned level crossing near Katihar in Bihar today leading to death of eight persons.


Describing the incident as most unfortunate, the Railway Minister expressed her profound grief over the loss of innocent lives. (ANI)
