A MAN driving a hearse accidentally hit and killed his friend after he ran in front of the vehicle.
Samuel York was hit outside his home when he ran out in front of friend Anthony Mazza's hearse yesterday near Detroit.
Mazza, who bought the hearse - his dream vehicle - two months ago, said Mr York had been dealing with depression for a long time.
The 20-year-old said he was driving to York's home to help him as he "got the point [York] couldn’t handle being here anymore."
"He just jumped out in front of the first car he saw, which happened to be mine," Mr Mazza said.
Mr York, 22, was on the shoulder of the road near the Hometown Macomb Mobile Home Community and Mr Mazza said he didn’t see him until he ran out in front of his car.
Mazza, who bought the hearse - his dream vehicle - two months ago, said Mr York had been dealing with depression for a long time.

Authorities said York was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
