Birbhum, Apr 15: In an apparent case of human sacrifice, a beheaded body of a man was found near a Kali temple in Birbhum district of West Bengal, about 1 km from Shantiniketan, media reports said.
According to reports the body of the man was spotted by the temple priest, who had gone to offer prayer on Thursday, Apr 15, morning.
While the identity of the man is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that he must have been sacrificed on Wednesday, Apr 14, night.
Blood stains were reportedly found on the altar meant for animal sacrifices, while burnt incense sticks were found inside the temple. Blood was also found near the idol of Kali.
Police arrived around 9 am. A man called Lalmohan Hansda of Donaipur village has been detained for the human sacrifice. Sniffer dogs used by police led to Hansda's house.
