Breaking News! A three-member Rajya Sabha panel has found Calcutta High Court judge Soumitra Sen guilty of misappropriation of funds. Justice Sen will now become the first judge in the history of India to be impeached. The probe panel was set by Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Dr. Hamid Ansari in March 2009. The panel was headed by Supreme Court Judge Justice B Sudershan Reddy.  Other members of the panel were renowned jurist Fali S Nariman and Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal. The panel examined all documents and evidences before submitting their report.Justice Soumitra Sen allegedly misappropriated Rs 33,22,800 of public money in 1984, when he was appointed as a receiver in a dispute between the Steel Authority of India Limited and Shipping Corporation of India. ================================================= |
