New Delhi, Nov 11: Proving yet again why India's national capital is also the crime capital of the country, reports of a horrific gangrape in Delhi have emerged.

The girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by four culprits on Nov 3 in east Delhi. While media reports give varying details on the girl's age, it has been learned that the victim is a student of Delhi University and that she worked part time at Spice World mall.

"On November 3, she left for office early in the morning. She was waiting for her office cab at the main road of Pandav Nagar when four persons arrived in an auto-rickshaw," a Mandavli police officer is quoted as saying in a tabloid.

The DU student-cum-BPO employee was reportedly raped in a forest area near ITI campus. According to the police, the culprits held her captive and gang-raped her at knife-point.

Besides holding her captive for as long as 12 hours, the accused also robbed the girl of her valuables before abandoning her.

The victim first reported the incident to her parents, following which she approached the police. A television news channel quoted the victim as saying that the negligent and insensitive way the police dealt with her case enraged her.

After a medical test confirmed rape, the police filed a case. So far, one of the culprits has been arrested. Hunt for the others is on. --- OneIndia News
