=======================================================================
SIXTEEN members of a wedding party were killed in eastern China when the farm vehicle they were travelling in was hit by a truck carrying gravel.
The three-wheeled transporter was carrying 22 people in all, said a local official in the Shenxian district of Shandong province.
He said the driver of the truck fled the incident, which took place on Thursday, but was reported by media only on Saturday.
Six other passengers, two of them children, were in stable condition.
State-run Xinhua news agency said the passengers were returning home from a wedding banquet and that the driver of the transporter, who was among the dead, was suspected of drunk driving.
Chinese roads are considered among the most dangerous in the world, with 200 to 300 people killed in accidents every day according to official statistics.
