Kanpur: The Uttar Pradesh government today extended a helping hand to an ailing 14-year-old boy, whose parents had filed a petition in a local court seeking permission to sell off their kidneys to fund his treatment for aplastic anaemia.
For the treatment of the boy, suffering from Aplastic anaemia, the state government has deposited Rs. 1.5 lakh at the Sanjay Gandhi PGI Hospital in Lucknow and will give more financial support if required, District Magistrate Mukesh Meshram said.
The step comes in the wake of media reports. Several people and NGO's have also come forward for sponsoring the boy's treatment. Anuj, student of class VI, requires bone marrow transplant but his father, a scooter mechanic, could not afford the medical expenses.
