Seven killed, three injured in helicopter crash in southwestern Siberia

Seven passengers were killed and three crew members injured after a Mil Mi-8 helicopter crashed in Russia's Omsk region in southwestern Siberia, the Prosecutor General Office's Investigative Committee said on Thursday.

The crash occurred at about noon local time [06:00 GMT] on Thursday when the helicopter was landing and caught  fire.

According to the Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsia, the helicopter, which belongs to Novosibirsk Aircraft Repair Plant, was engaged in delivering workers to a drilling site.

Six bodies have so far been recovered at the crash site, and the injured crew members have been sent to the hospital in the town of Tara, an official at Rosaviatsia said.
