Allahabad: His name is Akshat Saxena, and the one-year-old from Uttar Pradesh is now said to be the new holder of a world record and he did not even need to sweat to get into the Guiness Book. The one-year-old from UP is now on the record books after being born with 34 fingers and toes. Akshat had seven fingers on each hand and ten toes on each foot, a spokesman for Guiness world record was quoted as saying.
The boy has had a series of surgery since he was born last year to remove the extra digit and doctors are currently figuring out a way to provide Akshat with thumbs. The condition, known as polydactyly, is a genetic disorder and can also be inherited.
Akshat's mother Amrita Saxena claimed it was a friend who brought the record to their attention, convincing the parents that the child was special. "I was so happy to see our baby as it was our first child, but later, when I saw his fingers I was shocked and surprised. He (the friend) had read on the Internet about a baby born in China with 31 fingers, later, he along with my husband and my younger sister registered our data on the Internet," she added.
The record was previously held by a 6-yr-old boy in China who had 15 fingers and 16 toes. for having the most fingers and toes.
