We Have Been Warned, Animated Movie ‘The Lorax’ Coming Soon

The animated movie ‘The Lorax’ is scheduled to hit theaters in early March 2012. One of the original ecologically themed stories tells the tale of a possible dark future when society has really messed up the environment, sound familiar? It was written by that master story teller, Dr. Seuss.



The, I was going to say beloved but I think that due to the nature of many of his roles, that may not be the proper adjective for movie actor Danny Devito. Let’s just say that he is a highly regarded movie actor and he’s got the starring role. Zac Efron plays Ted, the kid that searches for what is no longer available in society, a living tree. Betty White is the adorable grandmother.


While a CGI animated movie just doesn’t have the charm of the analog predecessors of yore, they are much faster and easier to make and it would seem that the hand drawn animated movie a la Walt Disney’s Fantasia are all but extinct. CGI will always seem somewhat plastic to me, though a good story, like this one is and quality voice overs from some of our favorite actors go a long way to erasing the clinical sterility of the CGI medium.
Considering movie actor Danny Devito and his many talents, I almost wish that instead of an animated movie they made a real live film of it. He really does conjure up the persona of the diminutive Lorax. Not unlike Napoleon, Mr. Devito towers in the heights of his chosen field and illustrates the irrelevancy of a person’s height.
