Robbery in AC coach of train to Kolkata
KOLKATA: Barely two days after miscreants went on a looting spree aboard the Lal Quila Express, passengers of the Up Howrah-Amritsar Express were robbed near Jhajha, Bihar, on Sunday night. And this time, too, an AC coach was targeted.
Passengers who tried to put up a resistance were thrashed by the robbers. Sources said there were around 25 people in the gang. The incident occurred between 10 pm and 11 pm before the accused vanished in the dark.
The train had just crossed Lahabon station near Jhajha when someone pulled the chain. As the train came to a halt, the robbers broke open some window panes of an AC coach from outside. They then made their way into the compartment through the broken window.
Brandishing arms, the gang went around robbing the hapless passengers. Most did not dare challenge them, and those who did were beaten up. There were, though, no reports of any major injury till news last came in.
The train was taken to Simultala in Bihar, where the incident was reported to GRP. The train was made to wait there for a while as police had to inspect the coach and record the statements of eyewitnesses. (source: the times of india)
