Women’s sexual health forum a success issue 222 - 04 Apr 2011 SNAKE Condoms, Australia’s only Indigenous-friendly, socially marketed condom, hosted Australia’s first SNAKE Forum for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Melbourne. This was the first and only forum of its kind in Australia and 32 Indigenous women aged between 18 and 28 years of age gathered from across Australia to build their knowledge and skills relating to sexual and reproductive health and rights. The forum helped the participants learn about why Indigenous young women needed to learn about their sexual and reproductive health and rights, how building the capacity of young Indigenous women would help their communities, what were some of the challenges facing young Indigenous women and what could be done to encourage solutions and what was the current state of sexual and reproductive health in Indigenous communities in Australia.
