'No carbs is her mantra': It takes more than Pilates to get Pippa's figure

After the wedding, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's favourite guests were each sent a piece of their sumptuous wedding cake.

But don't ask Pippa what the fruit cake it tasted like - she follows a strict no carbs diet.
The maid of honour's perky posterior is said  to be the product of the intensive ‘core-strength’ exercises she practises in her regular Pilates classes.

The 27-year-old refers to the sessions as a 'weekly necessity'.
But her demanding diet must also play a big part.
 
‘Her idea of a hearty meal  is a few salad leaves washed down with green tea,’  I am told.
‘ “No carbs” is her mantra.’  
Regulars at the Chelsea café Pippa favours tell me that her preferred purchase is a  ‘bread-free’ sandwich - or, in other words, a salad.

Cutting down on carbohydrates was especially popular in 2003-4 when the Atkins diet was in full swing.

At the height of its popularity one in eleven North American adults (and seemingly every A-lister in Hollywood) was on the diet.

Now the diet of choice for many, including Pippa's mother Carole, is the Dukan diet, a three-stage protein program.
