Some people don't quite get Russell Brand's comedy. Then, there's the Japanese.
In the country to see wife Katy Perry perform, Brand was apparently not welcomed by authorities there, Perry tweeted early Sunday morning; according to her Twitter feed, she went from elation to being there to something less than that just a few hours later.

"I'M SO EXCITED! I'M IN MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD! #JAPAN!!! #CALIFORNIADREAMSTOUR!!!" she wrote just before midnight on the East Coast (or, around midday Sunday in Japan.

Then, a series of messages about the ejection
:
"So...my husband just got deported from Japan. I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place #tokyodreamscrushed"
It was for priors from over 10 years ago! #mamanothappy! #don'tmessw/mahman! #uwannaplaylet'sgo #don'ttakeawomansmanfromhershe'llgetshiasty!
...But of COURSE I ♥ my Japanese fans & the show #MUSTGOON no matter the daily aftershocks or husband kidnappings! #it'snotrightbutit'sokay
#FREE@RUSTYROCKETS! RT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For his part, Brand seemed to be taking the event with his trademark good humor.
"Planning escape from Japanese custody. It's bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick," he wrote, alongside posting a picture of himself. "Stockholm syndrome kicking in. Just asked my guard out for (vegetarian) sushi. He giggled."
In fact, he may have escaped custody -- or at least was pretending to, writing, "Alcatraz! Shawshank Redemption! And now this! Ah, sweet blue bird of freedom!"
It's actually a major bummer for the pair; while being deported from anywhere cannot be fun, Japan holds a special meaning for Brand and Perry. While they were preparing their marriage last year, rumors swirled that the wedding would be held in Tokyo; when it was revealed that India would be the venue, Rihanna publicly mused over giving the pair a honeymoon in the Japanese capital.
