Five Ways To Keep Your Home Secure

Along with house decoration, it is important to keep your house secure so you can keep your belongings and property safe from thieves and vandals. Having security doors installed is a good start and you can even think about putting in security screen that will best suit your house decoration. Don’t let anyone know exactly what it is you have on your property by putting up a fence and make sure that you can lock any gates. Besides, a high enough fence will deter any thieves from targeting your property, simply for the reason that there is an added obstacle to get around.


Security doors and screens


Installing security doors and security screens in your house is a good step towards securing your home. With a security door you can leave your front door open to let in the breeze. Having security screens on your windows gives you additional protection.


 
Guard dog


If you have the yard space you might want to get a guard dog. There are certain breeds that are better at being guard dogs, generally larger breeds like German Shepherds and Dobermans. Small dogs aren’t any good as guard dogs, but any type of medium sized dog would be ok too, particularly if it barks at strangers. If your dog makes a noise when someone enters the backyard, it might be enough to stop a possible break in and alert any neighbours.
Secure fence


A high fence surrounding your property will make it a lot more secure. The thieves will have to either get property items over your fence, which is a pretty conspicuous activity, or take things through the front gate, which hopefully you keep locked when you are not home.


Security cameras
Security cameras can be mounted at your front gate if you happen to have a high front fence or wall around your property, or you can have one mounted above your front door. If your property and the items in it are valuable, you might want to think about having cameras installed inside your home.


Security alarm
Many homes have security alarms. It’s a good way to alert neighbours, as well as the security company when your home is being broken in to. Controlled easily by a control pad on the wall, you simply switch it on and off by typing in a code. These alarms are set off when they detect any movement in the house. A siren will go off and the security company will also be alerted. They will then send somebody around to check out what is going on and call the police if there is a genuine problem.
