Jitendra Singh was celebrating the birthday of his two-year-old daughter Niharika and had invited the kids for this. The cake and pastry for the party were purchased from Royal Bakery at Anjani Nagar. The children had the cake and pastries before eating their dinner.

The children later went to sleep. Around 10:30, the kids complained vomiting and dysentery. They were rushed to the nearby hospital. Thirteen of the kids had to be kept in ICU. The parents approached police and lodged complaints against the bakery owner.
Police raided the bakery early on Saturday and collected samples of food and products from the bakery shop. The samples have been sent to Bhopal laboratory for tests.
