Venereal Disease Symptoms: You Do Not Always Notice Them
The party was awesome, and you met a gorgeous man who swept you off your feet. You go to his place after the party, you both are a little drunk, and this makes you careless as you immediately have sex. The next morning with the light of the day and alcohol having left your body you realize what a stupid thing you have just done — had unprotected sex with a stranger. There are many things going through your mind like the risk of pregnancy or disease. You know the symptoms of pregnancy, but you are not sure what venereal disease symptoms are.
Is this scenario familiar to you? I think it is very common and is easily preventable. You should keep your sexual health as healthy as you keep, say, your teeth.
Weeks go by, your menstrual cycle is normal and you feel fine. With no symptoms, you think you are lucky to have escaped any serious consequences and your life goes on. Some venereal disease symptoms do not occur for several weeks to months after contact and you take the risk of passing it unknowingly to other partners. Chlamydia is one sexually transmitted disease that often has no symptoms, or mild symptoms you will not notice. Symptoms can include:
- Painful urination
- Lower abdominal pain
- Discharge in both sexes
- Painful intercourse for women
- Pain in the testicles for men
- Swollen lymph nodes
- Diarrhea
- Weight loss
- Fever
- Cough and shortness of breath
