Three women in Zimbabwe charged in series of rapes of men

(INTERNATIONAL) -- It is a story one does not often hear about. A group of women involved as serial sex predators raping men at gunpoint.
Police in Zimbabwe Friday charged three women with 17 counts of aggravated indecent assault in connection with a string of sexual attacks on men over the past two years by women who targeted male hitchhikers.
When the women were arrested police said they were in possession of 33 condoms containing semen.
Prosecutors say the 17 criminal counts were for each of the 17 men who had positively identified the women as having sexually assaulted them in 2010 or 2011.
The women are all in their mid-20s. They were arrested Sunday in Gweru, about 186 miles south of Harare, when their car was involved in an accident. Police found the condoms in the women's car.
Police said to date 17 men had come forth and positively identified the women as having raped them. Most of the males said the women would offer a drink either laced with something to tranquilize them or they were forced at gunpoint to have sex.
However one theory behind the attacks says they were not motivated by any sense of sexual gratification for the women but were instead motivated by ritual practices.
Watch Ruparanganda, a professor of sociology at the University of Zimbabwe told local news reporters that some sections of society in the region use male sperm for ritual purposes under the belief it can be used successfully for the regeneration of life since sperm is the biological source of life.
Ruparanganda also said some people believe they can “have their bad luck gone by using semen.”
The women being held have their next court appearance on October 28. Police said it was possible more charges may be filed.==================================================
