The microphone is so small that "it cannot be seen with naked eyes."

The microphone, which is just 0.5, 0.5 mm big, can be used in building small and invisible hearing aidsfor the deaf, according to Iranian Student's News Agency (ISNA).

"The device could be used for medical purposes to receive the exact sound of the heart for diagnosis of heart problems and examination of fetus health."

Moreover, the tiny microphone can also be applied for fishing, surveillance systems under water to measure sound waves and ultrasound waves to identify different marine animals.

Apart from that, the device can also find usage in pens, telecommunications systems, information collection devices and defence systems.

"High sensitivity, low cost, low power consumption and use of low voltage are some advantages of the device."
