15-year-old abducted boy found murdered
in Sanand, Gujarat, India.
Ahamedabad, Gujarat, India. May 14, 2010.
Shaktisinh Jhala, son of a rich landlord, had left his home on Tuesday saying that he was going to his friend Sunil Patel’s house. He never returned. Yesterday his family received a call for ransom money of Rs two crore. Today morning his body was found from a well of Goraj village about 50 kms from here.
Police swung into action as there was massive public protest in this incident. Sustained interrogation of Sunil revealed that after Shaktisinh arrived, two other friends Pravin Patel and Ashif Allarakha also joined him.
The group was in the habit of using cough syrup as intoxicant and Shaktisinh was called on the pretext of this party. Maternal uncle of Ashif, Dilvar Mir also joined the group and made call for ranson money. However, when Shaktisinh resisted his captivity, they killed him by stabbing him and dumped his body in a well.
The body of 16-year-old Shaktisinh Jhala, who had appeared for his Class X examinations, was found with injury marks at Goraj gam (village) in the satellite township of Sanand, 35km from Ahmedabad, where land prices have soared after the Tata small-car project was relocated from Bengal’s Singur.
Shaktisinh’s grandfather, Manubha Jhala, is well-known in the region and owns more than 20 per cent of the land in Sanand. The boys wanted quick money and it seems greed motivated them. They probably killed him after knowing that the police was after them and they are not going to get the money.Shaktisinh's grandfather Manubha Jhala had finalised a multi-crore land deal recently and made a fortune.
