A 29-year-old home-alone woman was found murdered at her Lakshman Nagar residence in JP Nagar on Friday.
Identifying the woman as Payal Sureka, the police said she had been a senior technical assistant with Dell, a technology solutions provider.
Her husband, Anant Narayan Mishra, had left for his native place Cuttack in Orissa on Thursday. The couple was living in a rented flat in Ramana Babu Apartment.
The incident came to light around 3.30 pm when the flat owner checked her residence, after Mishra had told him that Sureka, also from Orissa, could not be reached over the cellphone, despite repeated attempts.
The landlord entered the flat using an extra key, and found the woman dead in the hall. He immediately informed the police.
Deputy commissioner of police (south) Sonia Narang said Surekha’s neck was slit and her body bore multiple stab injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an unidentified man had visited Sureka around afternoon, asking for her husband. He is the primary suspect.
Police were suspecting that the man was known to Sureka. The door of the flat had a magic eye, and no signs of struggle were found in her second floor residence.
Sureka joined Dell on November 15 last, and had been staying in the flat with her husband since September.
Police could not find any photographs of either Sureka or her husband in the flat. Investigators were checking the call records of the deceased woman. Mishra and Sureka had been married for the past five years. Police were trying to gather more details about the couple.
