University of Bristol?s 2010 Art of Science Competition: Brain Mesh by Abigail Benn
Brain Mesh by Abigail Benn, PhD student Physiology and Pharmacology. The brain is highly complex organ and remains one of the most enigmatic areas of scientific research today. These images shows slices through the prefrontal cortex depicting how several types of brain cells interconnect in 3-dimensional space. The neurons and supporting cells have been painted with fluorescent dyes. The fourth image is a combination of the other three, known as a brain cell mesh.
