10 All-Time Best Celebrity Stage Bloopers

Everybody falls sometimes. We've all experienced those random, super-embarrassing moments in which we take a spill before a bevy of strangers who must be thinking "Wow, what a klutz!" Even though such occurrences are lighthearted — unless you injure yourself, of course — it's difficult to come away from a face plant with your pride fully intact. However, when the tables are turned and you're the spectator, you probably get some guilty joy out of it, subconsciously thinking "Hey, they're a fallible human like me!" For the same reason, people just love when celebs make human mistakes, whether they make a TV appearance while drunk or high or provide slapstick comedy like in the videos below — it's sadistically pleasant to see them humbled before common folks.
  1. Beyonce Puts a Sting on It: There have been plenty of R&B divas through the years who have possessed less-than-endearing personalities. Although there has been gossip about Beyonce being a diva off the stage — you can say that about any major celeb — she's done a good job of coming across as sweet and good-natured in public. So when she tripped on her coat and slid down about a dozen stairs during a 2007 concert in Orlando, most people didn't point and laugh. Instead, they felt sorry for her and praised her for getting right back up and continuing her performance. As they say in the biz, the show must go on.
  2. Kelsey Grammer Seems a Bit Confused: No stranger to booze and drugs, Grammer has probably taken a few spills in his day. The man forever remembered as Dr. Frasier Crain, a neurotic psychiatrist from Boston and Seattle, has a tendency toward recklessness, as evidenced by his cringe-worthy fall during a speech at Disney Land in 2005. Viewers of the video seem to really like it — the YouTube video has been "Liked" 322 times and "Disliked" just 31 times — indicating that perhaps he has rubbed some people the wrong way over the last couple of decades. Unfortunately for wife No. 3, who's currently divorcing Grammer, he wasn't seriously hurt.
  3. Bono Gets Too Close to the Edge: South Park cleverly depicts Bono as a smug, self-serving egomaniac. People who have grown tired of his excessive publicity, like Trey Parker and Matt Stone, probably delighted in Bono's descent off a stage during a 2001 show in Miami. Lesson learned from this video: even a man who was named Time magazine's Person of the Year, nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and knighted by Queen Elizabeth II can be a clumsy dolt.
  4. Joaquin Phoenix Dives into a New Career: Joaquin's faux rap career got off to a hilarious start in 2009 when he "performed" in a Las Vegas club. Disheveled and a possibly high, or at least acting high, he attempted to hype up the crowd by bouncing around like a bunny, screaming something inaudible and unexpectedly falling feet-first off the stage. It was all part of his master plan, however, as he later claimed that his eccentric behavior and rap career were fabricated for a mockumentary directed and produced by Casey Affleck.
  5. Pink Crashes the Party: After yelling "Are you ready!" a couple of times prior to performing her hit "So What" during a 2010 concert in Nuremberg, Germany, Pink showed that clearly she wasn't ready, as her planned stunt went awry. causing her to take a hard dive off the stage. The resulting anguish was apparent when she got up, cursed a few times and said she couldn't feel her back. Onlookers were silenced, hoping their likely overpriced tickets didn't go to waste.
  6. Bret Michaels Has Fallen: The 2009 Tony Awards are best remembered for almost killing Bret Michaels. After Poison's performance of "Nothin' But a Good Time," Michaels attempted to exit the stage before he was suddenly flattened by an enormous set piece. He suffered a fractured nose and received three stitches for his busted lip, only minor health issues compared to what he'd endure less than a year later.
  7. Prince of Destruction: Quite simply, Prince is one of the coolest, most talented individuals in the history of the planet. It's not often that he does anything remotely uncool, let alone clumsily. One notable slip up occurred in 1983 when he was on stage in a rare moment with the Godfather of Soul and the King of Pop — you won't ever find a better assemblage of musical talent. After being piggybacked to the stage by an overweight, white-bearded man, Prince proceeded to strum a guitar, rip off his shirt, dance a little and swing off the stage from an oversize decorative streetlight (at the very end of the video), which subsequently fell into the crowd. Needless to say, it was an epic series of events.
  8. Jimmy Buffett Falls on Parrothead: Perhaps he blew out his flip flop and stepped on a pop top. Maybe there's a woman to blame. Or he could've been swimming in one too many of those frozen concoctions. Ultimately it was Jimmy Buffet's own damn fault when he fell into the first row during a January concert in Sydney, Australia. The 64-year-old reportedly laid motionless for eight minutes, receiving treatment from one of Australia's leading trauma surgeons who happened to be in attendance. He was transported to the hospital and released the next day.
  9. Steven Tyler is Going Down: During the 2009 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Rapid City, South Dakota, Tyler was forced to entertain the crowd during a sound system failure that prevented him from performing "Love in an Elevator." The then-61-year-old singer unintentionally simulated one of the two main functions of an elevator, going straight down into the crowd, suffering minor head and neck injuries and breaking his shoulder. He was airlifted to the hospital for treatment and Aerosmith was forced to cancel all but two of its remaining shows for the 2009 tour.
  10. Bob Dole's Campaign Plunge: Symbolic of his campaign's ultimate fate in 1996, Dole plunged off the stage at a campaign rally in Chico, California after a weak railing gave way. The ex-Senator from Kansas sustained only minor injuries from the three-foot fall, despite landing on his vulnerable right side that he damaged in World War II. The incident reinforced that he really was old and out of touch, and when election day came, Bill Clinton was left as the last man standing.
