Feel The Extreme Of Entering The Forbidden City Feel The Extreme Of Entering The Forbidden City

There are many ancient and beautiful cities in the world, that are among the best places to travel, however only one of them was kept away from the sight of ordinary people. I am speaking about one of the best preserved Chinese historical imperial palaces — the Forbidden City, which is among the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites.
This unique and very beautiful cultural monument is situated in the heart of Beijing, China, and covers an area of about 435 square miles, with about 800 buildings and about 9,000 rooms.

It took all these people fourteen years (1406-1420) to finish their job. The complex got this name because of the fact that ordinary people were forbidden to enter it, as it was the emperor’s residence on earth built as a replica of the Purple Palace, the place where God lived according to the Chinese. The city is also enclosed by a 33 feet high wall and at each of the corners of the city there is a watchtower.

Start from its southern section which is also called Outer Court. This part of the city was the place, from where the emperors (the city has been the home of 24 emperors) exercised their supreme power over the nation.

It was the part where emperors lived with their royal families. The buildings that are worth visiting here are the Palace of Heavenly Peace, the Palace of Union and Peace, where imperial seals were kept and the Hall of Terrestrial Tranquility — the emperors’ wedding room. The famous Imperial Garden with its divine and luxuriant nature is also situated here, together with the Hall of Mental Cultivation, which is among the most important buildings.
