ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani Taliban has split into two groups, IRNA news agency reported on Monday.
Fazal Saeed Haqqani, leader of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in Kurram Agency near the border with Afghanistan, separated from the main outfit and formed a new group called Tehreek-e-Taliban (Islami).
He said he formed the new group because killing innocent people in suicide bomb blasts at mosques is against Islamic teachings.
Haqqani played a vital role in setting up of training centres in different parts of the country. His associates are known for kidnapping people for ransom.
