CBI receives complaint of fake passport against Ramdev's aide

NEW DELHI: CBI is examining a complaint against Balakrishna , a close aide of yoga guru Baba Ramdev , for allegedly holding a fake passport, sources said on Saturday.

A preliminary inquiry is likely to be registered soon against Balakrishna, the sources said adding the agency has received a complaint from the government about his having more than one passport.


On June 7, the Centre had asked security agencies to look into the allegations of the multiple passports of Acharya Balakrishna.

Sources said that his nationality was not clear and he allegedly has two Indian passports. Violating passport laws in India carry stringent punishment including imprisonment up to five years.

And according to the 2006 Nepal Citizenship Act, citizens of Nepal who obtain citizenship of another country have to forgo Nepalese citizenship. Similarly, India also does not accept dual citizenship.
